The year is coming to an end soon, well it’s not that soon but since this month is already November we think it is appropriate to say so ;) .

With technology becoming more and more central to our lives on this earth, attention is being given to technological development like never before. R&D activitiy is being carriede extensively all over the world by both government and the private sector alike for the next big findings that can not only alter but also change our lifestyle alltogether. Let’s take a look at 10 technologies that has emerged so far this year.

1. Modeling Surprise

Combining massive amounts of data, insights into human psychology, and human machine learning can help manage surprising learning.

2. Probabilistic Chips

Krishan Palem thinks extending a little uncertainty in chips can extend battery life in mobile devices and maybe the duration of Moore’s law too.

3. NanoRadio

Alex Zetti’s tiny radio, build from nanotubes could improve everything from cellphones to medical diagnostics.

4. Wireless Power

Physicist Marin Soljacic is working toward a world of wireless electricity.

5. Atomic magnetometers

John Kitching’s tiny magnetic-field sensorwill take MRI where it’s never gone before.

6. Offline web applications

Adobe’s Kevin Lynch believes that computing application will become more powerful when they take advantage of the browser and the desktop.

7. Graphene transistors

A new form of carbon being pioneered by Walter de Heer of Georgia Tech could lead to speedy, compact computer processors.

8. Connectomics

Jeff Litchman hopes to elucidate brain development and disease with new technologies that illuminate the web of neutral circuits.

9. Reality mining

Sandy Pentland is using data gathered from cell phones to learn about human behaviour.

10. Cellulolytic Enzymes

Frances Arnold is designing better enzymes for making biofuels from cellulose.
